Meet the 2016-2017 Scholarship Recipients:

Nathan Wendling

Mr. Nathan Wendling has been awarded the C.W. Sheffield Memorial Scholarship for $1,000.  He attended William R. Boone High School.  While at Boone High School, Nathan served as Treasurer in Mu Alpha Theta and was captain of the soccer team.  He also was the co-founder of the Ocean Activists Club, learning about the importance of the ocean and helping to keep it clean and safe.
 

He is currently attending the University of Florida.  He has not decided what specific engineering field he would like to study but is leaning towards Aerospace.  When he was little, he enjoyed working with Legos, creating, and building things that have grown over the years.  Nathan would like to create something that has never been done before and would ultimately have his name on it.  He would like to be remembered for something.  
 

C.W. Sheffield Memorial Scholarship

Joseph DeRienzo

Mr. Joseph DeRienzo was awarded one of the Central Florida FES Scholarships for $750.  He attended West Orange High School.  While at West Orange High School, Joseph served the science club and as a field officer in the marching band.  He is currently attending the University of Florida where he will major in Aerospace Engineering.  As a child, he as always wanted to be an astronaut and enjoys studying anything that can fly.  Joseph would like to work with technology that would help with life in space, either medical or satellites.

Central Florida FES Scholarship

Arjun Singh

Mr. Arjun Singh was awarded one of the Central Florida FES Scholarships for $750.  While at Olympia High School, Arjun participated in the Brain Bowl and Mu Alpha Theta.  He is currently attending the University of Texas at Dallas where he is majoring in both Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering.  When he was younger he was inspired to become an engineer after watching The Six Million Dollar Man.  One of his aspirations is to make prosthetics that would feel like a natural part of your body, that would respond to your neurons.

Central Florida FES Scholarship

Peter Han

Mr. Peter Han was awarded one of the Central Florida FES Scholarships for $750.  He attended West Orange High School.  While at West Orange High School, Peter participated in science fairs and his school’s marching band.  He is currently attending Georgia Tech where he will major in Computer Engineering.  Peter became interested in engineering from his role model, his father.  His father always quoted “Engineering is where research science meets the real world."   As an engineer, Peter wants to help others pursue their dream and make devices that make a difference in the future.
